Cauldron Lake is one of the most important locations in Alan Wake. It is a large lake located near Bright Falls, Washington, and acts as an entrance to the Dark Place, a supernatural location where fiction and reality flow together. As a result, writers and artists near Cauldron Lake can turn their works into reality.

Bright Falls, Washington, is a fictional town in the U.S. state of Washington and serves as the central setting of the Alan Wake franchise. Originally established in 1878 as a small mining community to support local workers, it later evolved into a popular tourist destination, drawing visitors with attractions like Elderwood National Park, Cauldron Lake, and the annual Deerfest.

ELDERWOOD LODGE
The Elderwood Palace Lodge is a historic building in downtown Bright Falls. Originally constructed in 1898 as part of an early settlement, it has seen both private and public use over the years. Carefully dismantled and relocated in 2015, the lodge was rebuilt log by log and reopened in 2016, restored to its original glory. It now serves as the FBI Field Office during the Cauldron Lake murders investigation.

DARK PLACE
The Dark Place is a supernatural location appearing in the Alan Wake franchise. It is a surreal, alternate dimension wherein works of art can influence and rewrite reality. Cauldron Lake acts as a paranormal gateway into the Dark Place, and through it, the area around Bright Falls has been subject to constant manipulation by forces living within the Dark Place for centuries.
